Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has denied reports that he allegedly committed tax fraud in Spain.
The 32-year-old has been fingered out in a tax fraud investigation with claim that the FIFA Player of the year defrauded Spanish Tax authorities of about 14.7 million euros between 2011 and 2014.
Reports in Spain claim that tax authorities have filed a lawsuit against Ronaldo for
allegedly committing tax fraud under the disguise of a “business structure” to cover up income from his image rights in Spain.
Responding to the allegation, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agency, Gestifute said in a statement: “There is no tax evasion scam.
There has never been any hiding nor any intention to hide anything from tax authorities,”
Despite the ongoing investigation, the former
Manchester United star has enjoyed a wonderful spell on the pitch in the last 12 months, winning several laurels after helping both his club and country to memorable
achievements.
His counterpart, Lionel Messi was earlier found guilty of tax evasion in Spain and was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with alongside his father, Jorge but he is not
expected to serve anytime behind bars as Spanish law rules that jail sentences of two years and below will not be served.
